Fes celebrates 44 years of its inscription on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
44 virtuoso musicians of Moroccan Andalusian music “Al Ala” under the direction of the great master Mohammed Briouel, along with 44 Moussamiines from various Moroccan zaouias led by Sheikh Ali Rebbahi, will take the stage to present a unique Sufi music program – a spiritual journey through all 11 Noubas and “Toubous” of “Al Ala”, including the “mayazines” and “Al Adrajs”, a pure production of Moroccan zaouias that enriches the “Al Ala” repertoire.
20 “Foukaras” will accompany them to rhythm the Hadra.
This spiritual musical promenade will give meaning to the wonderful lyrics drawn from the repertoires of great Sufi masters such as Omar Ibn al-Farid, Abul Hassan al-Shushtari, Mohammed al-Harraq, etc., to stir the senses by harmoniously blending Sufi chant with Andalusian music.
