تحتل فاس مكانة مهمة في التدين لدى جزء كبير من السنغاليين.
تأسست الطريقة التيجانية سنة 1195 هـ (1781-1782 م)، إثر رؤية للنبي في واحة أبي سمغون الجزائرية، على يد العالم والصوفي أحمد التيجاني (1737-1815). ويقع ضريحه في قلب مدينة فاس العتيقة.
