Perla Cohen has had multi-disciplinary academic training in Sociology, History and International Relations

She is a graduate of the  « Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales » and has performed different functions at the institute and as a member of the « Groupe de Recherche sur l’Amérique Latine », University of  Toulouse Le Mirail. Her research and publications have covered conflicts in Central America, peace processes and international actors, democratic transitions and new models of development, as well as community policies.

.She has, for fifteen years,  been an active designer of the magazine published by her research laboratory  « l’Ordinaire Latino américain », working as chief editor and delegate director.

Besides, she has occupied various positions in charge of international relations of the European University Pole of Toulouse and contributed to its international opening and strengthening of its European dimension. She has also participating in the proceedings of the National Commission on the state of research in the Human and Social Sciences (SHS), and the Union for the Mediterranean. She has contributed to the publication of reports at the national, Community and Latino Amricann levels.

She has worked as an expert for over ten years with three Spanish agencies for the quality assessment of universities and has been counsellor with the Deputy chairman for Research. Additionally, she has been correspondent of the Ministry to the European Commission  for research in the social and human sciences and for mobility.

Ever since her return to Morocco in 2011, she has been Mission Head Counsellor to the President of the Jewish communities of Morocco and roving ambasador of His Majesty the King. Following from this, she has devoted herself to the cultural heritage of Moroccan Judaism, widely coordinating and contributing to the writing of the book on Jewish cemeteries in Morocco publisjed in 2015 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohamed VI She has given several lectures in a number of Moroccan universities and worked on interfaith dialogue with the Peace Building of Rabita Mohammadia.
