Elias Karam was born in 1960, in the northern Syrian town of Hassaké . The region is known as Djézireh and is situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates . From a young age, Elias Karam was specially keen on the voice and songs of Wadih al-Safi, and when he was 16 he wrote his own first songs. When he eached the age of 20, he was already considered a professional singer and performed for the Syrian radio. After some years, Elias Karam, who is also a composer and oud player, went to live in Lebanon where he works with the most well know artists. He has also performed in Jordan , Kuwait , the Gulf States , in Egypt (at the Cairo Opera), several European countries, Canada and the USA .
